August 10th
When you hear of a disaster
or of refugees or people in war zones, do you wish you could do some this tangible to help?
The St. Luke's quilters make sturdy warm comforters
to be sent to people in these situations via the Mennonite relief organization. About 3 times a year we gather in the undercroft to assemble tops, layer, tie and sew up the comforters. We have a regular assemble line. Sometimes we manage to make two or three comforters on a Saturday morning, and sometime more. It sounds like a small thing but if you have ever slept outside on a cold night, you know that something as small as a warm blanket can mean a lot.
If you would like to help
If you would like to help, make comforters, join us in the Undercroft on Saturday morning, August 10th. All skill levels are appreciated. There are tasks ranging from picking out colors and patterns that go together, to pinning and trimming the edges, to sewing, to tying the almost finished product.
